Air Fried Roasted Chickpea Fun
It’s so fun to try out a new cooking technique and the Air Fryer craze is well deserved! By now most people have heard of an Air Fryer and the name kinda says it all. It’s basically a small little counter top oven with a vortex fan that circulates hot air really really fast.
You’ll need these👇
Ha Ha got it? Bottom line, it uses a lot less oil than conventional stove top frying with very similar results…minus all the fat, the grease, and the time! These crunchy chickpeas come out super crispy in a forth of the time a conventional oven would take.
The down side; it’s another stand alone, on top of your counter, small appliance. Upside… it’s not heavy at all, like a crock pot, so it’s easy to store!!!

Spicy Jalapeno Chickpea Ingredients

That’s it…not a lot of ingredients for these savory crunchy nuggets of yum!

- Spray oil over peas…approximately 3 seconds and stir. Or add olive oil and mix. Add the seasonings and mix gently again.

- Enjoy!!!

Tips and Tricks to Making Air Fried Spicy Chickpeas with Jalapenos
- My number one suggestion to getting these chickpeas crunchy is make sure they are dry before you Air Fry them.
- I let mine drain on paper towels for about 15 minutes…moving them around so all the pea surfaces will be moisture free.
- Make sure the oil gets well distributed. The less liquid oil you use the better. I really like to use spray oil. Plus spray oil makes them 0 Weight Watcher points!
- When Air Frying make sure you take them out half way and either give them a really good stir or shake in the pan. Don’t be afraid to do this a couple of times.
- When you start to hear popping you know you’re getting close to done…the popping sound really makes me smile😉
Conventional Oven Instructions
Follow all the instructions above but use the conventional oven and a cookie sheet. Set the oven to about 300 degrees and slow roast these.
This will take about 40 minutes. Stir a couple of times during the baking process.
