This easy recipe is a twist on the famous Fire Crackers but are made with mini saltines. Small in size and big in spicy flavor, make a double batch of these yummy bite sized treats and serve them instead of popcorn on movie nights. 

Include them as a part of a holiday gift basket or use them on a charcuterie board as a smaller cracker option. Eat them like croutons on a salad or a big bowl of soup. Or next time you make them, hide them in the pantry and have them all to yourself.

  • 1 box of mini saltine crackers
  • 2 tablespoons of Everything but the Bagel Seasoning
  • 1 tablespoons of red pepper chili flakes
  • 1 tablespoon of garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon of onion powder
  • 1/2 cup of vegetable oil, olive oil, or canola oil

HOW TO MAKE SPICY PARTY CRACKERS

  • STEP ONE – mix seasonings and oil together, make sure the oil mix is well incorporated and not clumpy.
  • STEP TWO – add the whole box of mini crackers to a big bowl and pour oil-seasoning mix over the crackers, gently stir until crackers are evenly coated.

  • STEP THREE – place oil-cracker mix in a gallon-size Ziplock bag or large airtight container. 
  • STEP FOUR – every hour or so gently flip the bag or airtight container.
  • STEP FIVE – “marinate” the seasoned crackers for at least 4 hrs. or overnight.

  • STEP SIX – after “marinate” time is over, place on a large baking sheet lined with parchment paper. 
  • STEP SEVEN – airdry snack crackers for at least an hour at room temperature or toast on low heat in the oven for 30 minutes.
  • STEP EIGHT – serve in a large bowl for party snacks or small bowls for individual servings. ENJOY!!

Instead of air drying for a couple of hours, you can bake at 250-300 degrees for about 10-15 minutes. Be careful not to burn…the red pepper flakes burn easily! Take it from experience🤦‍♀️

You can easily skip mixing these mini crackers in a bowl and go directly to the plastic zip lock gallon bag step. Keep them on the counter and gently toss them every hour or so.

Store these homemade crackers in an airtight container. They should be kept for about a week in your pantry.
